Made in Echo Bay, Canada
When you shop at Landing & Co. you are supporting Canadian MADE, and championing independent designers and makers from across the country! Jack Dunning made stoneware pottery at his home-based studio along the Echo River in Echo Bay, Ontario until passing recently (1944 - 2020). Playing with shapes and colours, often layering glazes for novel effects, he created a wide variety of different items. At a typical show or in the studio he had a number of functional pieces for cooking and table use along with larger pieces that are more purely decorative. Jack will long be remembered as a former, beloved, Algoma University professor of Psychology, and more recently as a potter of beautiful and functional, traditionally thrown and hand-formed ceramics. Check out this interview for a look at his studio, and his demonstration of making a pot on the potter's wheel!
